Thursday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
PrizePicks Record This Season: 7-14
Sitting two ticks down on his fastball velocity, Griffin Canning is struggling out of the gates in 2024. He has gotten rocked in every outing to date, allowing 14 earned runs and 21 hits across 9.2 innings so far. The strikeouts have also been hard to come by, and he has stayed under this line in two of his three starts. Canning ranks in the bottom 31 percentile in CSW%, 27% in K%, and 8% in xFIP among all starters so far.
The headlining return in the Tyler Glasnow trade, Ryan Pepiot has showcased why the Rays were okay giving up their ace. His fastball, slider, and changeup arsenal are filthy, and he is in the top 86th percentile in K% because of that. Tampa has also left him with a longer leash than expected, and he has fired up to 94 pitches on two starts, exceeding this mark in those two outings. Aside from Mike Trout, the Angels’ offense doesn’t have many other weapons to worry about, so take the over here.
The Diamondbacks aren’t known to strike out very often, but this is a line that Webb has traditionally gone over for the vast majority of his career. Since 2021, the Giants’ ace has been over this mark in 68 of 95 starts (70.5%). His out prop at DraftKings is listed at -105 for him to go over 18.5 outs. If he pitches into the seventh inning, it’s hard to see him staying under this.
