No matter the matchup, the Braves’ lanky lefty finds the strikeouts, ranking in the top 97th percentile in both K% and CSW%. Sale has found at least seven strikeouts in 20 of his 28 starts and takes on a weaker lineup in Cincinnati. They are fourth in K% (28.1%) and 27th in wRC+ (70) since the start of August facing Southpaws. Look for the soon-to-be NL Cy Young to carve up this lineup the way he usually does.
Gilbert has been incredible for the Mariners all season, but facing the Yankees will not be easy for him, or any pitcher for that matter. They have been one of the more difficult lineups to strike out this year and are 22nd in K% (20.9%) and first in wRC+ (121), thanks to Aaron Judge and Juan Soto. Despite his dominance throughout the season, Gilbert has stayed under this line in 20 of his 30 starts, so take the under in a tough matchup.
The Orioles zone-controlling righty isn’t necessarily known for his strikeout prowess, but he can rack them up in the right matchup, and today he gets just that. The San Francisco Giants are in town, and they possess the second-highest K% (28.1%) and are 20th in wRC+ (90) vs. righties over the past 30 days. 14 of the last 22 right-handed starters to face them have found at least seven strikeouts. Eflin ranks in the top 77th percentile in CSW% and ought to be able to accrue at least six in this one.
