Tuesday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 12-9-1
Jones has already thrown 25 strikeouts in just three starts this season. He's struck out at least seven opposing batters in all three games and has a 10-strikeout performance to his name. Still, Jones has yet to pitch more than 6.1 innings in a game this season. That could be problematic against the Mets.
The Mets have the second-fewest strikeouts in the league. In 16 games, they've struck out just 115 times, an average of 7.2 per game. Jones has no history against the Mets, so this game will come down to which side is better tonight. Jones could get a few matchups that work in his favor, but it's unlikely he will punch out seven Mets in fewer than 7.0 innings.
Rodriguez has struck out 21 batters in three games. He was disappointing against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday, striking out only five batters in 5.2 innings. The Red Sox currently have the fourth-most strikeouts in the league. Luckily for Rodriguez, he faces another strikeout-prone team, the Twins.
Rodriguez is averaging over one strikeout per inning, and the Twins are averaging over 10 per game. If Rodriguez can pitch deep enough into the game, then this is a matchup where he could hit double figures.
Bichette has 13 hits in 60 at-bats, and he's managed just five extra-base hits this season. Thus far, he has only three multi-hit games. Bichette can get hot. After all, he has hit safely in eight of his last nine games. But even during that span, he went under 1.5 total bases in five of the games.
Tonight, he faces Carlos Rodon, a pitcher he only has six at-bats against. One of his two hits against Rodon was a double. If he can replicate that effort tonight, he will hit this over. However, it's hard to trust him to exceed 1.5 total bases. Take his under before he starts hitting doubles and home runs at his usual rate.
