Tuesday’s Best MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 11-15-2
The key to Jordan Hicks' success tonight will be staying in the game long enough to hit this more than. He's struck out at least five batters in three of his four starts. In each of those games, he pitched at least 5.1 innings. In the one game where he failed to strike out at least five, he only pitched four innings.
Since allowing zero earned runs in his first start of the season, Hicks has allowed 15 in his last three. Against the sixth-highest scoring team in baseball, he could end up getting chased early, just like he did against the Yankees. However, the Brewers have 188 strikeouts this season, and Hicks is averaging nearly one strikeout per inning. If he can get through a full four innings, he will, at worst, push. If Hicks goes any deeper than that he should hit this more than.
Kris Bubic struck out eight batters in each of his first two starts, but he's recorded just 11 strikeouts in his last two. However, Bubic has been consistent, as he has struck out at least five batters in every game this season.
The Rockies lead the league in strikeouts, with 234 in just 21 games. Against the Yankees, Bubic struck out six batters in 5.1 innings. While the Yankees rank third in the league in strikeouts, they've also played two fewer games than the Rockies, so this is an even better matchup for Bubic than it looks like on paper. Bubic has pitched at least six innings in three of his four starts. If he hits that mark today, he'll easily top this number against one of the worst lineups in the league.
Though Aaron Judge only has one home run in his last 16 games, he's been incredible at the plate this season. He's batting .384, with at least one hit in nine of his last 10 games. He already has nine multi-hit games this season and 13 extra-base hits.
Tonight, Judge faces Tanner Bibee, a pitcher he has yet to record a hit against in his career. However, Bibee hasn't been very good this season, allowing at least six earned runs in two of his four starts. He's had two good starts this year, but both were against the Kansas City Royals, a division rival he sees often. When he goes out of the division, he struggles considerably.
Judge will likely need two hits in this game to hit the more than, but he belted a double last night, so he always remains a threat to hit this mark with one swing of the bat. Thanks to how Bibee is currently pitching, there are plenty of ways Judge hits this more than tonight.
