MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 29-33
Yastrzemski hasn't recorded a hit in four straight games, his longest hitless streak of the season. Prior to his current stretch, he had safely hit in five of his previous six games.
Minnesota Twins pitcher Sonny Gray has been solid this season. He is 4-0 and has allowed just 38 hits in 49.1 innings, but Yastrzemski has had success against Gray in his career. It's a small sample size, but he is 2-for-5 with a home run. This is a good spot for Yastzemski to break out of his funk and get at least a single.
Gomber has struck out just 29 batters in 44.1 innings this season, but to set this number at three seems really low. He is coming off a one-strikeout performance against the Cincinnati Reds, but he had six strikeouts in his start prior to that one.
Gomber has thrown fewer than three strikeouts in three of his nine starts this season, but going against a lineup that has struck out 407 times this season, he has a decent matchup. So why is this line at just 3.0? Because he just isn't a strikeout thrower. That doesn't change that he should clear this number, and in a worst-case scenario, he will push.
Over the last eight games, Judge has been on an absolute tear. He has recorded a hit in each game, multiple hits in four games, and he just went 4-for-4 with three RBIs on Saturday. Yet, we think this is a really good time to fade him.
Judge has always been a power hitter, but it is not often that we see this type of hitting consistency from him. After an off day that may have cooled off his streak, he goes against a pitcher that he has almost no history against. Perhaps Judge continues his hot hitting, but even if he extends his hitting streak to nine games, getting the extra base here makes it so that a single still qualifies him for his under.
