MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Friday (8/2)

Top MLB PrizePicks Player Predictions: Thursday (8/29)

Friday features a full 15-game slate for us to choose from when deciding on our Same-Game Parlay (SGP) bets.

Now that the dust has settled on the MLB trade deadline, I am looking to target a pair of teams who are seemingly already making plans for the winter. Below are three of my favorite SGPs for Friday's MLB action.

Friday's Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets

San Francisco Giants @ Cincinnati Reds

Quick disclaimer: Most sportsbooks were not offering SGP functionality as I was writing these up. Because of that, pricing may be different on Friday morning once books start releasing props for this game. Adjust as you see fit.

I expect a lot of early offense in the game between the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds. I am betting on both the YRFI (Yes Runs First Inning) line and the over on the First Five Innings lines.

Andrew Abbott and Kyle Harrison have a combined 4.39 first-inning ERA this year and both offenses have been hot early in games recently.

Since the All-Star break, the Giants have a 129 wRC+ in the first inning, while the Reds have posted a 116 mark.

In general, I expect both starting pitchers to struggle. Abbott has pitched just 14 innings over his last three starts. In that span, he has allowed 28 baserunners while striking out only seven hitters.

Kyle Harrison has looked good lately. However, his last two starts were against the Colorado Rockies, so I am taking those outings with a large grain of salt. I believe he will have a much more difficult time navigating Cincinnati's lineup at Great American Ball Park.

For the final two legs of this SGP, I am taking both Tyler Fitzgerald and Jonathan India to record a base hit. Fitzgerald led off in San Francisco's last game against a left-handed starting pitcher. With Jorge Soler out of town, I anticipate that being the case again on Friday night.

Fitzgerald is hitting .302 versus southpaws this year. He has recorded at least one hit in six of the last seven games in which San Francisco has faced a lefty starter.

India has settled in as Cincinnati's leadoff hitter and has performed well at home and against left-handed pitching. India is hitting .311 versus lefties this year, including .323 at home. He has recorded at least one hit in six consecutive contests in which Cincinnati has been opposed by a left-hander.

Miami Marlins at Atlanta Braves

For my next SGP, I am playing the matchup between the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta enters this game in good form. They have won five out of six - all of those victories have been by at least two runs. I expect more of the same on Friday.

Spencer Schwellenbach has won three of his last four starts, posting a 2.08 ERA over that span. Miami has traded several of their top hitters in recent days. Schwellenbach should face little resistance from this lineup.

Miami is countering with Valente Bellozo. Bellozo had a 5.55 ERA in the Minors last season and a 5.55 xFIP in Triple-A this year. I am taking Atlanta on the run line to kick off this SGP.

I am playing the over on Schwellenbach’s 4.5-strikeout prop as well. To be honest, I was a bit surprised to see this line. Schwellenbach has recorded six or more punchouts in six of his last seven starts. Given the state of Miami's offense, I thought this would be set at 5.5.

Finally, I am going with Matt Olson to record at least one run batted in on Friday. Olson is red hot, with five home runs over his last six games. I think he will find a way to drive in at least one run in this game.

I am taking advantage of FanDuel's 30% boost with this SGP. It is currently at +401, but that may move. If this falls below the +400 threshold, I would consider bumping up Schwellenbach's strikeouts to 6+. That may also allow for some leeway on the other legs.

Parlay Odds: +521 via FanDuel Sportsbook (after a 30% boost)

Chicago White Sox @ Minnesota Twins

The next SGP I like for Friday is in the matchup between the Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox. Chicago has not won a game since before the All-Star break. There is no reason to expect that to change on Friday when they face Twins ace Joe Ryan.

Ryan has the fifth-lowest expected ERA (2.84) among 67 qualified starting pitchers this season. The White Sox are dead last in nearly every offensive category since July 1 versus right-handed pitching. Meanwhile, Minnesota's offense has been a top-five unit in the same split. They will be facing the unproven Davis Martin. This is a mismatch of the highest order and I am taking the Twins to cover the 1.5 runs on the run line.

Ryan has made 10 starts at home this season. He has had at least five strikeouts while issuing no more than one walk in every single one. The White Sox have the third-lowest walk rate and fourth-highest strikeout rate since July 1. It should be a relatively easy night at the office for Ryan on Friday.

The final leg of this SGP is for Trevor Larnach to record at least two total bases. Larnach should hit near the top of the lineup on Friday night. His .200 ISO against right-handed pitchers is the highest among Twins qualified hitters.

If you do not like Larnach, Matt Wallner has a .295 career ISO versus righties in just over 300 plate appearances. Wallner is a strikeout waiting to happen (35% career strikeout rate). However, Martin has only struck out 18% of hitters during his brief MLB tenure. I chose Larnach because DraftKings has not released Wallner props yet, but I just wanted to mention that in case you are looking for alternatives.
