This Friday’s MLB slate contains one fewer game than normal due to the travel day for the Rockies and Astros. But fear not, for there are still plenty of chances for us to find some Same Game Parlays to play.
Below are three of my favorite SGPs for Friday's MLB action. Keep in mind that FanDuel has a 30-percent boost on any qualifying SGP.
Friday's Best MLB Same Game Parlays
Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.
Oakland Athletics at Baltimore Orioles
- Leg 1: Baltimore Orioles Money Line (-255)
- Leg 2: Gunnar Henderson to Record 2+ Total Bases (-110)
- Leg 3: Adley Rutschman to Record 2+ Total Bases (+110)
First and foremost, let's talk about the elephant in the room. There is a very good chance this exact SGP is not available by the time you read this. I was quite surprised to find it myself. I constructed it on several other sites and no other book had this at better than +340. Needless to say, I did not expect to see it available at +408 (before the boost) on FanDuel.
If you want to tail this and it is no longer at a qualifying price, I advise you to take the Over on the Baltimore Orioles Alternate Total Runs line. There is a very good chance that Over 2.5 will allow you to qualify for the boost, and Over 3.5 will almost certainly do it.
As for the play itself, Oakland has been a feisty bunch, and Ross Stripling is a serviceable pitcher. However, I do not see them being able to overcome Corbin Burnes and a Baltimore team that has won eight of its last 10.
A big part of Baltimore's recent surge has been the combination at the top of the order of Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman. The duo has been on fire, and I expect them to stay hot on Friday night.
Henderson has 18 hits in his last 10 games. In that span, he has recorded two or more total bases in nine of 10, including seven games with multiple hits. Rutschman has seven multi-hit games in his last 11.
Though Stripling has pitched better than his 0-5 record and 5.34 ERA indicate, he pitches to contact, which leads to a lot of base hits. He has allowed 37 hits in just 28 2/3 innings. He has given up just eight walks and struck out 22 batters on the young season.
Given the hot hitting of Baltimore's young studs at the top of the lineup, and Stripling's tendencies, I like this SGP, especially once the boost is added.
Parlay Odds: +529 with 30% boost (+408 without)
Cleveland Guardians at Atlanta Braves
- Leg 1: Atlanta Braves Money Line (-205)
- Leg 2: Logan Allen Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-113)
- Leg 3: Chris Sale Under 6.5 Strikeouts (-102)
A quick disclaimer if I may before I present my second SGP for Friday. At the time of this writing, FanDuel was the only sportsbook that had a line on Chris Sale's strikeouts. There is a decent chance that another book will beat this price once they release the lines. I just wanted to mention that before I explain my rationale for this SGP.
I am first taking the Braves to defeat the Guardians. Cleveland may enter Friday's action with the best record in the American League, but the Braves have matched them stride for stride, taking a 17-6 record into this matchup. The Braves also have the edge on the mound, with Sale squaring off against Logan Allen.
Allen enters this game with a lowly 18.6-percent strikeout rate on the year, going over this number in just one of five starts. I think those numbers may even be a bit kind considering the teams he has faced thus far.
Four of Allen’s five opponents this season have been teams that rank among the 10 highest strikeout rates against left-handed pitchers. The Braves are right around league average in terms of strikeout rate versus lefties. They are also a notoriously tough lineup to navigate. I expect Allen to struggle, and I am taking him to go Under his listed strikeout total.
While I expect Sale to do enough to help Atlanta earn a victory on Friday night, I am less bullish about his ability to rack up a lot of strikeouts. The Guardians lead MLB in wRC+ versus left-handed pitching. That includes a 19.2 percent strikeout rate against southpaws.
The 6.5-strikeout line for Sale is right where he has been so far this year. He has recorded 7, 6, 7, and 7 punchouts in his four games. The game with six strikeouts was against the Diamondbacks.
Arizona is a lot like Cleveland from an offensive standpoint. The Diamondbacks have the second-highest wRC+ against lefties and are the only team Sale has faced with a strikeout rate below 20 percent. It should be noted that Sale earned the victory in that game, as Atlanta prevailed 5-2. I see this game following a very similar script.
I am taking the Braves to win this game outright, but I believe Sale goes under his strikeout prop.
Parlay Odds: +428
