Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers will call on Emmet Sheehan for the final game of the first half. Sheehan has struggled lately, allowing a .232 ISO and a wOBA of .355 to his last 81 batters. Lefties have hit a .250 ISO and a wOBA of .367, with 28% of fly balls. That should help Ketel Marte, who has a .205 ISO and a .347 wOBA against his last 89 righties as a left-handed batter.

Additionally, the Diamondbacks’ projected lineup has struck out just 18.4% of the time against righties over the last month. Even with a high strikeout rate of 27.2% over the last 30 days, it might be hard to find six strikeouts for Sheehan.

Finally, Mitch Bratt will counter for the Diamondbacks. The lefty has allowed a .352 wOBA to his first 10 righties faced. I’ll take my chances with Andy Pages, who has a .205 ISO and a wOBA of .411 against his last 43 lefties.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres are expected to pitch German Marquez today. The righty has struck out just 15.2% of batters over the last month and has added just 14.8% of strikeouts this season. Ultimately, the Blue Jays have combined to strike out just 17.4% of the time against righties and only have three real targets for strikeouts.

On the flip side, it’ll be Kevin Gausman for the Blue Jays on the mound. The right-handed pitcher has allowed his last 50 righties to post a .356 ISO and a .459 wOBA, despite being a righty himself. He’s set to take on righties like Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr., who have hit right-handed pitchers well over the last 30 days.

Machado has added a .352 ISO and a wOBA of .415 against his last 86 righties, while Tatis has a .158 ISO and a wOBA of .342. Those two look great on paper in their righty vs. righty matchups.
