Monday’s Best MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions
Sleeper Record: 8-4
We’re obviously working with a tiny sample size, but Juan Soto is as hot as anyone at the dish right now. The start of his Yankee career couldn’t have gone any better. His 9-17 performance this weekend, with three walks, four RBIs, two runs, a double and a dinger, led the Yankees to a four-game sweep over their arch-rivals in Houston. Soto is so locked in right now that it doesn’t matter who he faces, but today, he takes on Ryne Nelson. Soto is 3-11 with two homers and a double against him for his career. Ride the red-hot bat of Soto and take the over here. He’s exceeded this line in three of four games so far.

There couldn’t be a more favorable matchup for Shota Imanaga to take advantage of in his MLB debut. The Rockies on the road have long been a target for any pitcher, with their strikeout rate and wRC+ plummeting dramatically away from home. Imanaga possesses a four-pitch mix that consistently mixed up batters in Japan during his time there. He had 188 strikeouts across 159 innings last season, good for a 29.5 K%. Look for him to stifle these Rockies bats the way most starters do.
A surprise addition to the Marlins rotation, Max Meyer returns to the diamond after Tommy John Surgery held him out since July 2022. This will be just his third career start, but the prospect shine is still there for Meyer, who was the third-overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. He’s primarily a two-pitch righty, but it plays well together, and he had an impressive 28.7% K% and 2.77 ERA across 172 career innings in the Minors. That slider of his should get the Angels’ bats flailing, and this line simply feels too short for a pitcher with this stuff. He might have a short pitch count, but Meyer should find his way to five Ks before he gets pulled in this matchup.
