Wednesday’s Best MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions

Sleeper Record: 39-21

Jon Gray More Than 5.5 Strikeouts (1.78x)

There couldn’t be a more favorable matchup for Jon Gray to find strikeouts in. The Mariners have the worst strikeout rate (28.2%) against right-handed pitching this season. Seattle’s roster also has a history of struggling against Gray. They own a 29.5% K% and .253 xwOBA across 95 plate appearances against him. In his last two starts, he found seven and nine strikeouts. If Gray brings the stuff he had from those outings, he won’t have any trouble exceeding this total.

Blake Snell More Than 1.5 Walks Allowed (1.42x)

Anytime this is at 1.5 for Snell, it’s an auto-play to the over, no matter the price. Last season, he ranked in the bottom 4% in BB% and went over this in 27/32 starts, averaging 3.1 walks per outing. He walked just one last start but had two in each of his other appearances. Dating back to 2022, he has gone over this line in 69/85 (81%) of his starts.

Clarke Schmidt Less Than 7.5 Strikeouts

The Yankees right-hander has hardly ever gone over this lofty total. In fact, he’s under this in 37/41 career starts. Oakland strikes out a ton, but 11 of the 17 right-handed starters to face them have stayed under this line. Schmidt doesn’t usually work deep into the game either, and his out prop is currently listed at 16.5 over at DraftKings. With a career 8.70 K/9, Schmidt has no business of deserving this strikeout line.
