MLB Sleeper Picks Player Predictions
Sleeper Record: 181-104 (63.5%)
Freddy hasn’t found his way to seven punchouts in a bit, but a lot of that has come down to the tough strikeout matchups he has faced lately. Today, he does get an easier matchup. The San Francisco Giants are in town, and they own the fifth-highest K% (25.7%) and are 22nd in wRC+ (92) against righties over the past 30 days. Peralta ranks in the top 88th percentile in K% and CSW% on the season and should be able to find his way to at least seven punchouts pitching at home.
This is just a brutal matchup for Carlos Rodon. He faces the Washinton Nationals, who hardly ever strike out against lefties. They are 28th in K% (17.1%) against southpaws over the past 30 days. In fact, 17 of the past 19 left-handed starters to face them have stayed under that. Rodon has some solid strikeout stuff but probably warrants a line closer to 5.5 in this one. He has stayed under this mark in 16-of-26 starts on the season.
Unlike the first two strikeout props, this angle isn’t predicated on the matchup. Facing the Royals is a difficult matchup for finding strikeouts, however, Bibee has the stuff to get to at least five. He ranks in the top 84th percentile in K%, 20th in swinging strike rate, and has gone over the line in 16 of his 25 starts on the season.
