Minnesota Timberwolves (-340) at Brooklyn Nets (+295) | O/U 228.5 (-110/-110)
The Timberwolves (3-3) and the Nets (0-6) meet at Barclays Center at 7 p.m. ET on Peacock.
Minnesota, unlike Brooklyn, has at least tasted victory this season. However, it is just 1-5 against the spread (ATS), while the Over has cashed in four of those six outings. The Timberwolves are coming off a 122-105 rout at Charlotte on Saturday, cashing as a 4.5-point favorite to halt an 0-5 ATS run to start the season. The 105 points allowed marked a season low, too. On the flip side, the 122 points scored were a season best, as well.
The Wolves shot 54% (47-of-87) from the field, and 47% (17-of-36) from behind the 3-point line, while six players were good for double-digit point totals, including Rudy Gobert going for 14 points, 15 rebounds and two blocked shots with two steals. Naz Reid was sharp off the bench, too, going for 18 points, tied for second-best on the team behind the 30 points scored by Julius Randle.
The Nets were trampled 129-105 as a 4.5-point underdog at home on Sunday, and now they play on no rest. In their first game playing on the second end of a back-to-back, Brooklyn lost 137-109 in Houston on Oct. 27 as a 16-point underdog while the Over (224.5) cashed.
Brooklyn is 1-3 ATS in the past four games, and it has lost four of its six games by at least 11 points. The Over has a slight 4-2 edge in the six losses, too.
Let’s back the Timberwolves to keep the Nets down, and we’ll roll with the Over based on the trends for both teams.
Picks: Timberwolves -8.5 (-110) & Over 228.5 Points (-110)
Los Angeles Lakers (+134) at Portland Trail Blazers (-158) | O/U 234.5 (-110/-110)
The Lakers (5-2) and the Trail Blazers (4-2) battle at MODA Center in Portland with a tip time of 10 p.m. ET on NBA TV.
The teams met four times last season, with Los Angeles winning the first three meetings, and Portland taking the final installments by a 109-81 score as a 6-point favorite while the Under (216) cashed. The total actually went 4-0 in 2024-25.
These teams met on Oct. 27, too, with Portland belting the Lakers 122-108 as a 3-point favorite while the Over (228) connected. Portland shot 46% (47-of-103) from the field, and 33% (14-of-43) from behind the 3-point line. Deni Avdija managed 25 points, with five 3-pointers made, while Jrue Holiday registered 24 points, six assists, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal, too. Jerami Grant added 22 points off the bench, too, while five players went for at least 16 points. Donovan Clingan went for 16 points and 14 rebounds for the only double-double, and he swatted a pair of shots, too.
For the Lakers, they shot 47% (40-of-86) from the field, and Austin Reaves rolled up an impressive 41 points, hitting 13-of-22 from the field, including three triples. He also got to the free-throw line 14 times, going 12-of-14, while the entire rest of the team went 9-of-12.
Portland has won three in a row, while going 5-1 ATS this season, including as a 3-point favorite in the first meet while the Over hit. Los Angeles has won and covered three in a row, and it is 5-1 SU/ATS in the past six games, with the only loss and non-cover coming against the Blazers. The Over is 6-1 in the seven games this season, too, including the loss to Portland.
Let’s back the Blazers to get it done by at least two buckets, and we’ll go Over, too. In fact, play the total a little more aggressively than the line.
Picks: Trail Blazers -3.5 (-106) & Over 234.5 Points (-110)
