(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs (-11.5) | O/U 229.5 (-115/-105)
These two teams just battled on Thursday night, and the game came down to the wire. Being down most of the game, the Mavericks were able to climb back from a one-point deficit with four minutes left, but the Spurs finished the game on a 15-4 run, pulling off a 135-123 victory.
It was another stellar performance for Victor Wembanyama - 29 points and 11 rebounds. He has a double-double in eight of his last 11 games. Defensively, the Spurs have been one of the strongest teams in recent weeks, posting a 111 defensive rating and allowing 110 points or fewer in nine of their last 13 games.
The Mavericks have cratered recently, with six consecutive losses, and the trade of Anthony Davis shows they are planning for the future. That future is centered around rookie Cooper Flagg, who is beginning to look like a franchise player. He's been on a stellar run, and his 151 total points over a four-game span are the most by a rookie since Allen Iverson in 1997.
Pick: Spurs -11.5 (-118)
Denver Nuggets (-5.5) at Chicago Bulls | O/U 231.5 (-110/-110)
The Nuggets are finally getting healthy, just in time to make a charge in the second half of the season. They were able to stay afloat without Nikola Jokic in the lineup, but, most importantly, they remain in playoff contention. In the four games since his return, Jokic has scored 30 points twice and is coming off a triple-double in an overtime loss to the Knicks.
Denver is far stronger offensively with Jokic in the lineup. From the start of the season until his injury on December 29th, the Nuggets ranked first in scoring (125.7 points per game), but after his injury, they ranked 26th (108.8 points per game).
The Bulls were among the busiest teams at the trade deadline, with Nikola Vucevic, Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu shipped off to new teams. They had already struggled to play consistently this season, and have lost six of their last seven games.
Pick: Nuggets -5.5 (-112)
