Sunday’s Best NBA Picks & Predictions
Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
The Pistons have the best record in the Eastern Conference, but have not been playing their best lately, losing three out of their last four games. Cleveland, on the other hand, has won its previous three games against some of the NBA's better teams (San Antonio, Denver, Phoenix).
Injuries have played a role in Detroit's recent struggles. Caris LeVert, Jalen Duren and Tobias Harris have already been ruled out for today’s game. Injuries also impacted the Spurs and Nuggets in their recent games versus Cleveland.
Cleveland has been beating some of the NBA's best teams, but with injuries to their superstars and other players, they haven’t been the same. Detroit has been somewhat competitive lately (maybe not in the Clippers’ loss) and should put up a good fight despite the personnel losses.
Pick: Detroit +5 (-106 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
Denver Nuggets vs. Brooklyn Nets
Denver was down four starters, including superstar and perennial MVP candidate Nikola Jokic, the other night versus Cleveland, but still managed to give the Cavaliers a pretty good fight. Cleveland is a solid team; Brooklyn is not. The Nets enter this game on a three-game losing streak and are dealing with their own injury issues.
Denver still has some talent on the roster despite the injuries and can field a solid squad. Brooklyn? Don't count on it. The Nuggets should handle the Nets just fine.
Pick: Nuggets Moneyline (-135 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Phoenix Suns
Oklahoma City has bounced back from losing a pair of games to the Spurs with four dominant wins, the last being a 131-94 win over the Warriors. Phoenix bounced back from a recent loss to the Cavaliers with a 129-102 win over Sacramento. The Suns have won five of their last six games. Oklahoma City is one of the best teams on both ends of the court this season. Phoenix has a solid defense, but its offense is mediocre at its best.
However, with how well both teams are playing and how the first two meetings went, we can draw one conclusion about how this game should go.
Both prior meetings went over this total. Each team has been putting up some points in recent games. While their respective defenses may slow things down, don't count on it happening for the whole game. We're going to see some points on the scoreboard in this game.
Pick: Over 227.5 Points (-112 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
