Tuesday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 72-69
Durant averaged 5.0 assists per game during the regular season, but he managed only one against the Timberwolves in Game 1 of their series. It marked his fifth consecutive game with three or fewer assists.
In the regular season, Durant managed to assist on six baskets in two of his three games against the Timberwolves. However, if his last two games against the team are any indication, he will struggle tonight. Considering how good the Timberwolves are defensively, it will be hard for Durant and his teammates to link up enough for him to tally assists. Look for him to score over 30 again, but compile three or fewer assists.
Lopez scored only 11 points in Game 1 against the Pacers, but oddsmakers are so confident in him tonight that they have his total set 2.5 points higher than that.
In five regular-season games against the Pacers, Lopez scored at least 16 on three occasions. The Pacers allowed the most points in the paint in the regular season. That’s a good thing for Lopez, but what makes him so dangerous is his ability to score from beyond the arc. When he makes multiple three-pointers against the Pacers he goes over this total. In Game 1, he almost hit the Over despite making just one three. With a high floor, expect Lopez to clear this with relative ease tonight.
Harden made two three-pointers in all three of his regular-season games against the Mavericks. Then in Game 1 of their Best-of-7 series, he exploded for six makes from deep. While Harden could revert to how he was in the regular season, he's in the same arena against the same team tonight as he was two days ago. That gives him a clear advantage.
Harden averaged 2.6 made three-pointers per game this season. Taking that into account, as well as his Game 1 performance, asking him to make at least three three-pointers isn't a lot. Of course, that would only get a push, but the Mavericks rank 21st in the league in opponent three-point percentage. That's why a push is the worst-case scenario tonight.
