Here are the three best NBA PrizePicks player predictions for Friday, January 10.
It would be very surprising to see this number stay where it is as tip-off approaches. Gary Trent Jr. is averaging 2.1 three-pointers per game, and he's shooting lights out right now. On Wednesday, he went 4-of-4 from deep. In the game before that, he was 3-of-5 from long-range. He's now made at least two three-pointers in four of his last five games.
Tonight, Trent will face the toughest matchup in the league when it comes to three-point shooting. The Magic are allowing the fewest three-pointers per game, with opponents making just 11.2 per contest. That's 1.2 fewer than the second-lowest total in the league. While this is worrying, Trent already made two threes against them earlier this season. He's shooting so well right now that he can overcome any matchup difficulties.
This number is so strange I'm almost compelled to take the more than. Since joining the Golden State Warriors, Dennis Schroder has topped 7.5 assists just once in 12 games. Eight of those 12 games saw Schroder finish with five or fewer assists.
Schroder has played better since the calendar turned to 2025. He has at least six assists in four of his five games this year, but he still has only topped this number once. While he certainly had some great performances with the Brooklyn Nets earlier this season, he's still only averaging six assists per game.
If the Pacers were a worse matchup, I would have pulled the trigger and taken Schroder's more than. But the Pacers rank 14th in the NBA when it comes to assists allowed per game, so I'm backing Schroder to continue his struggles.
Jayson Tatum is averaging 9.2 rebounds per game, but he's gone below his season average in five of his last six contests. In the one game where he did go over his season average, he barely cleared the number, pulling down just 10 boards.
In December, Tatum had a stretch of eight consecutive games with at least 10 rebounds. But he's been a streaky rebounder this season. In his last game, he managed just four rebounds. Tonight he battles the Kings, a team allowing just 50.6 rebounds per game. That's the sixth-fewest in the NBA. In a bad matchup, Tatum won't break out of his funk and goes below his season average yet again.
