Monday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
PrizePicks record: 48-39
Bam Adebayo Under 23.5 Points
Yes, Jimmy Butler is out for a fourth consecutive game, but this isn’t a good matchup for Adebayo to take over offensively. The Rockets are among the league’s best at defending big men, allowing the fourth fewest points per game to centers. Houston is also fifth overall in defensive net rating, and both teams are in the bottom five in pace, which should lead to fewer possessions for both sides. In 10 games without Jimmy this season, Bam is averaging just 21.9 points per game and is under this mark in six of those contests.
Alperen Sengun Under 22.5 Points
Sticking to the few possessions theme, let’s take the under on the Rockets’ third-year center, Alperen Sengun. He’s under this mark in 20-of-34 games this season, averaging 21.4 points per game. Thanks to Bam’s defense, Miami also defends the paint extremely well and is allowing the second-fewest points per game to opposing centers. With a 219-game total, points will likely be at a premium in this game, particularly for the big men, so fade both centers here.
Collin Sexton Over 17.5 Points
Even with Jordan Clarkson back on the squad, Collin Sexton has taken over the starting shooting guard role. Over his last 15 games, Sexton is averaging 21.3 points per game and has exceeded this line in 12 of those contests. That is a little misleading because a lot of that was without Clarkson, but even with him back, Sexton has averaged 19 points in his last eight games and has gone over this number in five.
The main draw to this, though, comes down to the Bucks being one of the worst teams at defending the guard position. They’re allowing the second-most points to shooting guards, and sixth-most to point guards per game. Both the Jazz and Bucks play at a top-10 rate in pace too, so shots will be flying in this one. As long as Utah keeps it close into the fourth quarter, Sexton should find his way over this line once again.
