Thursday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
PrizePicks Season Record: 7-10
The Warriors are a mess entering this Thursday night game. Steph Curry is out with a knee injury and Draymond Green has been suspended for his role in the brawl against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That leaves the Warriors without 39.5 points in this game. So, who will step up?
The obvious assumption is Klay Thompson. However, his points total is currently listed at 21.5, and he's yet to score 20 points in a game this season. Therefore, we're going with Andrew Wiggins. He's averaging 10.4 points per game and he's topped 14 points already this season. Against the Timberwolves, he was just 4-15 for nine points. However, tonight the Warriors will factor him into the offensive game plan more, and we expect that to lead to positive results for him.
Spencer Dinwiddie is coming off a nine-assist night, which is the only reason this total is listed where it is. Dinwiddie has recorded more than six assists in just three games this season. He's averaging 5.2 per game, but those numbers are inflated by two nine-assist performances and one game with eight assists.
Dinwiddie has recorded four or fewer assists in six of his 10 games. The Heat allow 26.3 assists per game, but it would still take a huge effort from Dinwiddie to hit this number. If results from earlier in the season are any indication, Dinwiddie will not be following up Tuesday's performance with another high-assist night.
Giddey hasn't made a three-pointer since November 1st, despite playing in six games since then. He's 0-9 during that span, attempting three three-pointers just once.
Playing from beyond the arc is not Giddey's game. On the season, he's made only four three-pointers in 11 games. He's attempting fewer than two per contest, which makes us even more confident in this prop. If he shoots just one or two tonight, the chances of it going in just aren't that high, considering he's shooting 19% from deep on the season.
