Speaking of rebounds, let’s back Utah’s big man to have his way inside the paint. He and the Jazz take on the Trail Blazers, who are 29th in adjusted defensive net rating, and 24th in rebounding. Since returning from injury, Kessler has routinely found his way over this line, exceeding this total in nine of his last 13 games. That includes a 13-point, 17-rebound effort against Portland earlier this month. Over this stretch, he is averaging 22.2 points and rebounds per game. Plus, there’s a chance that John Collins could miss the game, as he comes into the contest with a questionable tag.
It didn’t work out with Jordan Poole, but we’re returning to the system play of pick-and-roll ball handlers against OKC. The Thunder have permitted the third-fewest points via that play type, thanks to their defense, which ranks first in aDRTG. Haliburton scores 34% of his points through that avenue, and he is not one to typically find many rebounds either, averaging just 3.5 per game. He’s averaging just 21.3 points+rebounds per game and has stayed under this line in 18-of-30 games (60%), so let’s fade him in a tougher matchup than usual.
Beasley has been smashing this line more often than not. He has found 15 or more points in 17 of his last 21 contests, averaging 19.1 points per game. He draws a fantastic matchup with the Kings, who are 30th at defending spot-up shooting. Beasley accrues 38% of his points via spot-up shooting, so let’s ride with his hot hand.
