Thursday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 22-28
On Tuesday, Cunningham scored 41 points against the Brooklyn Nets. He was 15-of-21 from the field and 3-of-4 from deep. He's now scored more than 40 points in two of his last four games and more than 23 in four of his last five. However, we're going to avoid his point total tonight. Instead, we're backing his assists.
He's failed to clear 6.5 assists in back-to-back games, yet before his current streak, he assisted on seven or more baskets in six of nine contests. He's averaging seven per game this season, which is the exact average he has for this month. Even against a great Celtics' defense, he will hit at least seven again.
Though he pulled down just two rebounds in Tuesday's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, McCollum has been relatively consistent on the boards this season. He's averaging four rebounds per game, and he's pulled down at least four rebounds in 11 games.
The Jazz are the eighth-best team in the league when it comes to rebounds allowed per game. However, because McCollum is a guard, he won't be overly affected by the inside presence of the Jazz on rebounds. The Jazz are one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the league, and with plenty of misses in this game, McCollum will get plenty of long rebounds.
Towns failed to make a single three-pointer in Tuesday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He's made one or fewer three-pointers in five of his last seven games. While he did average 2.2 made three-pointers in November, he's averaging just 1.9 on the season.
When he played the Mavericks, he was just 1-of-3 from deep, yet, he still scored 21 points. He shot 8-of-14 from the field in that game, as he took advantage of his matchup inside the paint. He will do the same again tonight, as he fails to even attempt more than three three-pointers.
