Thursday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 53-58
The Mavericks have been a good matchup for Holmgren this season. In two games against them, he's pulled down 11 and 12 rebounds. We expect him to have another solid performance tonight, even though this number is over 1.5 more than his season average.
The Mavericks rank second to last in the league in rebounds allowed per game. So, even though Holmgren's numbers have been elevated against Dallas, they're not flukey. He's also coming off a 13-rebound night against the Indiana Pacers. Don't get bogged down by his season averages when looking at this total, as the Over is the right play.
VanVleet has made fewer than four three-pointers in his last two games. This streak comes after a stretch of four consecutive games where he made at least four in each game. The Wizards are so bad this season, that it may seem shocking to back any Unders against them, but this total is set too high tonight.
The Wizards rank top 10 in the league in points allowed off three-pointers per game this season. VanVleet may be averaging 7.9 three-point attempts per game this season, but he's only averaging 3.0 makes per contest. Opponents are making 36.6% of their three-pointers against the Wizards this year. Without a clear advantage, expect VanVleet to go Under tonight.
Lopez is a big man who loves to shoot threes. He's averaging 5.1 attempts and 1.8 makes per game this season. However, that's not a good thing when facing the 76ers and their fifth-ranked three-point shooting defense.
Yet, we like Lopez's Over in this game despite the seemingly bad matchup. In two games against the 76ers this season, Lopez has scored 13 and 11. In his 11-point game, he finished just 1-of-4 from deep. If he was already able to top this number with just one made three-pointer, then there's no reason not to back him tonight. Even if he struggles shooting, he'll find room inside to score at least 11 points for the first time in three games.
