Tuesday’s Best NBA PrizePicks Player Predictions
This Season: 0-0
In his last three games against the Lakers, Nikola Jokic has failed to hit 45 or more for this prop. His best performance came on Dec. 16, 2022, when he scored 25 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and had eight assists.
The main reason why Jokic seems to struggle to hit this prop against the Lakers is because the Lakers' defense does a good job of shutting down the Nuggets' offense. The Nuggets were held to 110 or fewer points in three of their four meetings last season. While the rebounds may be there tonight, Jokic will struggle to get enough points and assists to push this over.
Last season, Deandre Ayton led the Suns with 10 rebounds per game. He's off to the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Suns have replaced him with Jusuf Nurkic. Since 2017, Nurkic has averaged at least nine rebounds per game in every season.
In his debut with the Suns, he's facing the Warriors, which allowed the sixth-most rebounds in the league last season. Nurkic will have plenty of opportunities for rebounds in this game, as he doesn't have much competition on his team. Of all returning players, Kevin Durant is the team's leader in rebounds per game with 6.4. His prop is 7.5 tonight. That signals that oddsmakers are expecting a lot of rebounds for the Suns.
Last regular season, Chris Paul averaged 8.9 assists and 13.9 points per game with the Suns. As a point guard for one of the best shooting teams in the NBA this season, we expect Paul to focus much more on passing than shooting.
The Suns were one of the best teams at preventing opponents from recording assists last season. Their opponents finished with an average of just 23.4 per game, which was the fourth-best defensive mark in the league. But Paul's defensive abilities were key to that performance. With all the weapons around him, Paul could hit 10 or more assists in tonight's game.
