This Season: 2-4
RJ Barrett's over of 18.5 points is tempting, but it’s a little fishy considering how he's started this season. He's the Knicks' leading scorer, averaging 22.7 per game. He scored just 18 against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday, but his team also scored just 87 points.
Tonight, against the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team allowing an average of 115.3 points per game, we expect plenty of scoring from the Knicks. But they could get that scoring from people other than Barrett. However, even if Barrett doesn't score 19, he'll be involved in the offense. He already has 10 assists this season, and he has three rebounds in all three of his games. With the Knicks likely going over 100 in this game, we expect to see a stat line that resembles his first two games, not his last one.
Devin Booker probably won’t play tonight. With him out, the majority of the offensive workload falls to Kevin Durant. In the first game that Booker missed this season, Durant went for 39 against the Los Angeles Lakers. On Saturday against the Utah Jazz, Durant went for 26 points, but he also only played 29 minutes because his team was winning by so much entering the fourth quarter.
The Suns could very well find themselves in a position to bench their stars for the fourth quarter again tonight. Yet, even if they do, the Spurs' defense is so bad - they're allowing over 123 points per game - that we think Durant and other key players will have already hit their overs.
We're taking Josh Okogie's over for the same reason we took Durant's. He has very quietly been a consistent player for this offense, and he will continue to see more opportunities tonight with Booker out.
Okogie scored 17 and 10 in his first two games of the season. In his third game, he scored just seven, but like Durant, he saw his minutes severely cut because of the lead the Suns had. He played just 23 in the win after playing 32 and 33 in his first two games of the year. Against this defense, every player on the Suns has an over in play. But even if something unexpected occurs, Okogie's total is the most manageable of anyone on the court.
