Here are the three best NBA PrizePicks plays for Tuesday, December 19.
With Victor Wembanyama out, the door is open for both Johnson and Devin Vassell to have huge nights. The Bucks don't play much defense and this game has the potential to go over 250 points since the Spurs are ranked 27th in the league in points allowed.
With that many points on the board, Johnson is bound to do a bit of scoring. However, it's safer to take his points plus rebounds than just his points tonight. He's averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. In a fast-paced game, he's going to have plenty of chances to pull down boards. He's only scored 20 in one of his last four games. With his number set at 19.5, he could have a very good night and still miss his points total.
For as bad as the Grizzlies have been this season, they're allowing the 11th-fewest points in the league. They're also allowing the fewest points in the paint per game this year.
Williamson's total was previously set at 21.5, but it has gone up. Even though oddsmakers were quick to raise his total, we still like him to go under tonight. He's scored fewer than this number in four of his past five games. Since most of his scoring comes close to the basket, the only way that he goes over this total is if he knocks down 10 free throws like he did three games ago against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The key to this prop is Lillard playing long enough that he gets up enough shots to hit this over. The Bucks are currently favored by 16.5, and if they get out to a massive lead by halftime, Lillard may see his minutes significantly reduced in the second.
Yet, because the Spurs' defense is so bad, we still have to take the under in this game. The Spurs have the second-worst three-point shooting defense in the league, allowing opponents to knock down 39.2% of their shots from beyond the arc. Lillard is putting up nearly nine three-pointers per game. If he puts up that many tonight, he will clear this number for the third game in a row.
