This is a big spot for the top of the West, with the Timberwolves and Nuggets squaring off to determine who will be the No. 1 seed. With Jamal Murray doubtful, look for Nikola Jokic to put the team on his back. Excluding two games he played 14 and 16 minutes, “The Joker” has gone over this line in 13 of 19 games without Murray, averaging 30.4 points per game. Murray wasn’t available when these teams played on March 29. and Jokic put up 32 in that matchup.
Naz Reid has been a staple of this article for me lately, and for good reason. Since Karl Anthony-Towns went down, he has been on a scoring tear. When he has played 24+ minutes, he has 18+ points in 12 of his last 16 games, averaging 20 points per game. He’s now neck and neck with Malik Monk for the Sixth Man of the Year award, so look for him to keep his case strong in this nationally televised game.
Although they are -18.5 favorites with a clear risk of a blowout, this is an important game for the Cavaliers taking on the Grizzlies. Their playoff picture would look much better if they maintain or improve on being the current fifth seed. Memphis has pretty much reeled it in for the season, playing with a G-league squad at this point, so the matchup really couldn’t be much better. Evan Mobley has gone over this line in over 64% of games this season and should be able to get there, even if it’s just through three and a half quarters.
