Tennessee vs. Michigan: SGP

(Odds courtesy of BetMGM)

Leg #1: Michigan -6.5 at -135

Tennessee has a capable offense. It has averaged 79.3 points per game this season (No. 94 in the country; No. 12 in efficiency according to KenPom). But it is an offense that relies on getting to the rim, often via post-ups. Michigan, however, has the second-most efficient defense and a big frontcourt that won’t let Tennessee's Bigs dictate the ebb and flow of the game.

Tennessee is not a good enough 3-point shooting team to force Michigan to focus its defense on the perimeter. The first half will be competitive as the Wolverines figure out how the Vols will play. But Michigan will pull away in the second half after making a few adjustments.

Leg #2: UNDER 149.5 at -150

The Wolverines have put up 90+ points in all three Tournament games. They averaged 87.5 points per game during the season. But they have yet to play decent defense in March Madness. Tennessee ranks No. 12 in defensive efficiency. Tennessee has been scoring 79 per game this season and has not scored more than 79 in Tournament play. Michigan's efficient defense will hold the Vols to less than 70.

Leg #3: Yaxel Lendeborg, OVER 15.5 Points at -120

He averaged 14.9 points per game during the season. But he has turned it up a notch in the Tournament, scoring 25 against Saint Louis and 23 vs. Alabama. Tennessee's defense is going to be tougher than both, especially with their Bigs guarding the paint/rim.

But Lendeborg has proven he can take whatever the defense gives him and score, whether it’s pulling up for jumpers or driving past slower defenders. He had three 3-pointers against Saint Louis and four against Alabama and has gone 11-12 from the foul line in the Tournament. He'll go over this total.

Leg #4: Ja’Kobi Gillespie, 2+ Made Threes at -400

Gillespie is a respectable 3-point shooter at 33.9 percent, averaging 8.1 attempts per game this season and making 2.8. He hit 2+ in each of his last four games, with six (6-11) vs. Miami (OH) and three (3-5) vs. Virginia.

I do not want to take the under (2.5) and get a better price (+110) because I want to respect how well he's been shooting in the Tournament. But Michigan’s defense has been tough on the perimeter all year. However, Michigan has allowed multiple shooters in all three March Madness games to hit multiple threes.

So, I'll take the low price out of respect for what Michigan's defense can do, while also allowing Gillespie a day.

SGP Odds: +500 — A $100 bet will result in a $600 payday, your stake plus $500 in winnings.
