Best NFL Divisional Round PrizePicks Player Predictions (Sunday)
If you base your picks on what the Lions' rushing attack did in Week 6 against the Bucs, you'll end up disappointed. In the first meeting between these two teams, the Lions managed just 40 rushing yards. But when you look beyond the box score, you'll see that Jahymr Gibbs didn't play in that game and David Montgomery was injured in the first half.
The Buccaneers are allowing the sixth-fewest rushing yards per attempt this season, but they will struggle to slow down Montgomery in this game. He's averaging 4.6 yards per carry this season and has had at least 4.0 per carry in five of his last six games.
The Lions have a well-balanced offense, and if the Bucs sell out to stop the run, they will get burned by the passing attack. Last week, Montgomery outcarried Gibbs 14-8. If this week's game follows a similar pattern, expect the veteran to out-touch the rookie again.
In the first meeting between the Lions and Bucs, Chris Godwin finished with six catches for 77 yards. The Lions' defense was missing numerous key players in that game, including C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Brian Branch. Even with those players back, we still expect Godwin to have a solid game on Sunday.
Over their last three games, the Lions are allowing 27.0 completions per contest. Mike Evans will likely end this game with more yards than Godwin, as he is the team's most significant deep threat. However, Godwin will be key in picking up first downs in short-yard situations, and chunk plays over the middle.
The Bucs could win this game, but every trend from this season points to the Lions winning. If they build a lead, Godwin will pile up catches late in the game and easily go over this number.
In the first meeting between the Bills and Chiefs, James Cook was the Bills' leading receiver. He caught five passes for 83 yards. It was his best receiving game of the season. However, he's been much less involved in the passing game in recent weeks, and it's unlikely the Chiefs will let Cook be the reason they lose again on Sunday night.
The weather conditions won’t be too bad in Buffalo. That means both Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can throw the ball downfield. Allen and his receivers have been clicking in recent weeks.
Though Cook has seven catches in his last two games, that’s combined for just 21 yards. Cook is a last resort in the current passing offense, and after what happened to them in Week 14, the Chiefs will be very prepared for the Bills running back.
