NFL Futures: Ja'Marr Chase Receiving Triple Crown Odds, Picks & Predictions

Ja’Marr Chase is an exceptional talent, but his chances of returning to the postseason this year are not good. However, that doesn't mean he can't accomplish something unique such as leading the league in receptions, yards and touchdowns - the receiving triple crown. You can bet on whether or not Chase can complete the NFL receiving triple crown at BetMGM.

Despite his slow start to the season and Cincinnati's struggles, Chase is at or near the top of several statistical categories. But a lot can happen over the last five weeks of the season.

NFL Receiving Triple Crown Odds, Picks & Predictions

(Odds courtesy of BetMGM)

The term triple crown is one more commonly associated with horse racing and baseball. However, it can easily apply to the NFL, or in this case, to the statistics wide receivers in the NFL generate: Receptions, yards and touchdowns. Let’s take a look at Chase’s odds in each category.

NFL Receiving Triple Crown History

Since the NFL merger, the receiving triple crown feat has only been accomplished four times:

  • 1990: Jerry Rice (WR – SF) - 100 receptions, 1,502 yards, 13 touchdowns
  • 1992: Sterling Sharpe (WR – GB) - 108 receptions, 1,461 yards, 13 touchdowns
  • 2005: Steve Smith Sr. (WR – CAR) - 103 receptions, 1,563 yards, 12 touchdowns
  • 2021: Cooper Kupp (WR – LAR) - 145 receptions, 1,947 yards, 16 touchdowns

After 12 games, Chase has 79 receptions (tied for second with CeeDee Lamb), 1,142 yards (first) and 13 touchdowns (first). The leader in receptions is Las Vegas Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers (84).

Let's break down each category.

Ja’Marr Chase Receiving Touchdowns Odds

  • Ja’Marr Chase to Have the Most Regular Season Receiving Touchdowns (-1400)

With 13 touchdowns, he has a significant lead over Terry McLaurin and Amon-Ra St. Brown, who each have nine in second place. According to his odds of leading the league in receiving touchdowns (-1400), he has a 93.33% chance of doing so.

Of course, it wouldn't take much for Chase to get overtaken. He could go without scoring another receiving touchdown the rest of the season, while McLaurin and Brown have one in each of their remaining games (McLaurin would need two in one game) to surpass Chase's current total.

Chase has not scored in his last two games. Last season, he scored once in his final six games and never went more than two without in 2022. During his rookie season, he scored in two of the final seven games but recorded two touchdowns in one game and three in the other.

Ja’Marr Chase Receiving Yards Odds

  • Ja’Marr Chase to Have the Most Regular Season Receiving Yards (-275)

As for his receiving yards total (1,142), he has a comfortable lead over second-place Justin Jefferson (1,038). His odds of leading the league in that category are short, but not that short at -275. All it would take is one off day for Chase when Jefferson blows up for the outlook here to change.

Jefferson has had three 100+ yards receiving days this season, while Chase (who has also had three 100+ yard days this season) has had four days with 55 yards or fewer.

Ja’Marr Chase Receptions Odds

  • Ja’Marr Chase to Have the Most Regular Season Receptions (+375)

This one is a little more interesting since he is trailing by five heading into Week 14, and it will not be easy to catch Brock Bowers.

A big pass-catching tight end like Bowers is a young, inexperienced quarterback's best friend (like Aidan O'Connell). O'Connell targeted him 40 times (16, 10, 14) in the last three games; he totaled 27 receptions (13, 4, 10).

Bowers’ production will likely continue as such for the remainder of the season.

As for CeeDee Lamb (who also has 79 receptions like Chase), his production going forward is much less of a certainty. It all depends on how hard Dallas intends on trying to establish the run. They didn't versus Houston and Washington, and Lamb was targeted 12 times in each game (18 combined receptions).

Against the Giants, however, when the Cowboys tried hard to establish the run, he was targeted six times and caught two passes.

Chase was targeted 39 times in Cincinnati's last three games (17, 13, 9) and caught 24 of them. As long as the Bengals have something to play for, Joe Burrow will target his No. 1 receiver early and often.

How to Bet on Ja’Marr Chase NFL Receiving Triple Crown

Pass on Chase accomplishing the receiving triple crown but take Brock Bowers to lead the league in receptions (+145).

Chase will undoubtedly top two of the three categories (yards and touchdowns), barring something crazy happening in the last few weeks of the regular season. But I am not super confident he'll overtake Bowers for the lead in receptions.

He could, of course, blow up in a couple of games down the stretch and streak right past Bowers, but I'm not willing to bet on it.
