Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Chargers Betting Preview
Divisional races amplify the importance of this clash. The Eagles disappointed in a 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears on Black Friday. A win would relieve some pressure as they aim to pull away from the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. Meanwhile, the Chargers stayed within reach of the Denver Broncos thanks to a Week 13 victory over the Raiders. Another strong outing could make things interesting in the AFC West. Of course, a loss will cause a blow to either Philadelphia or Los Angeles’ playoff hopes.
The health of Justin Herbert is the leading storyline on Monday. The Chargers quarterback underwent surgery for a fractured left hand after his battle with Las Vegas. The plan is for Herbert to play, yet a hard cast can cause struggles to grip the football. A limited offensive game plan or a turn to backup Trey Lance doesn’t do L.A. any favors. The Eagles will have to overcome a few injuries of their own. Offensive lineman Lane Johnson (foot) and defensive lineman Jalen Carter (shoulder) have been ruled out.
These squads are similar in that they each have clear offensive issues and defensive strengths. The Chargers’ offensive line has allowed the most quarterback pressures (196) and hits (97) in the league. Philly averages the second-fewest yards per carry (3.1) and fourth-fewest rushing yards per game (83.7) on the road. The Chargers surrender the third-fewest yards (275.3) and first downs (16.8) per game. The Eagles concede the lowest completion percentage (56.4%) and fourth-lowest red-zone touchdown rate (50%).
This contest has all the components of a nail-biter. I will pick the Eagles to emerge victorious due to their track record of meeting the moment. Philadelphia has won nine of its previous 10 matchups versus opponents with a winning record. It is also 13-2 against the spread (ATS) when the line is between +3 and -3 under head coach Nick Sirianni, according to ESPN Research. The Chargers have lost 11 straight games as an underdog following a win. Herbert’s limitations ultimately prove costly as the streak rises to 12.
Week 14 Monday Night Football Parlay
Philadelphia’s offense is not firing on all cylinders. Its reliance on quarterback Jalen Hurts near the end zone reigns supreme, though. The Super Bowl MVP has tallied more rushing attempts inside the 20-yard line than any other quarterback in 2025 (23).
Hurts has scored a touchdown on the ground in 19 of the Eagles’ past 30 games (including the playoffs). The Chargers yielded a rushing touchdown to Jacksonville’s Trevor Lawrence during their most recent loss (Week 11). Trust the trends here.
Bet: Jalen Hurts Anytime Touchdown Scorer/Eagles to Win (+189)
