Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets will host Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the season premiere of Monday Night Football. Last season, Allen struggled against the Jets' defense. Should we expect the same from him tonight? And what will Rodgers do in his debut?

Best PrizePicks Player Predictions for Week 1 Monday Night Football
Breece Hall is expected to play tonight, but in his first game back from a knee injury, we don't expect him to see the lion's share of carries. Instead, we believe that the experienced Cook will be the lead back, and if he is, this number is not nearly high enough.

The Bills' run defense was great in 2022, but most of that success came because they were constantly leading in games. The Jets had success running the ball against the Bills a year ago. In their 20-17 win, Michael Carter rushed for 76 yards, while in their 20-12 loss, Zonovan Knight rushed for 71. With all the focus on Rodgers, look for the Jets to run more than expected, with Cook to keep the ball away from Allen and the Bills' offense.
Last season, in two games against the Jets, Allen threw just one passing touchdown. Allen did throw for multiple scores in 11 games last season, but the Jets are not an ordinary defense. So why should we trust Allen to throw for multiple touchdowns tonight? Simply put, we shouldn't.
With Rodgers on the other side, the Jets' offense is significantly better than it was a year ago. Therefore, we expect to see the Bills run the ball as much as they can tonight. Even when they do throw, there is no guarantee they will have success. Allen didn't complete 60% of his passes in either game against the Jets last season. Huge plays are going to be hard to come by, and if they get to the goal line, the Bills are going to pound the ball.
Wilson had at least six catches in both games against the Bills last season. However, the quarterback throwing him the ball was nowhere near as confident throwing to other players as Rodgers will be. Even last season, when Rodgers found a great connection with Christian Watson at the end of the season, Watson never caught more than six balls.
This isn't going to be as much of a shootout as everyone expects. Rodgers won't rely on Wilson the same way a younger quarterback would. Wilson should have a solid game from a yardage perspective, but he will have to do it with four or five catches.
