NFL Monday Night Football PrizePicks Predictions: Jaguars vs. Bills
Is PrizePicks giving away free money or is this the biggest trap of the week? James Cook has run for at least 71 yards in both of his games this season. He scored three touchdowns last week, so he is at the front of every bettor's mind this week. The Bills are favored by five points, so the expectation is that they will run the ball a lot. And yet this number is only set at 63.5.
When something is this fishy, you have to go against the obvious side. The Jaguars' run defense has been pretty good this season, it's the pass defense that has been terrible. Look for Josh Allen to have the big offensive showing on Monday night, while Cook takes a backseat whether the Bills dominate or trail.
The reason we're taking Cook to go under 63.5 rushing yards is the same reason why we're taking Josh Allen to go over 230.5 passing yards. The Jaguars are allowing 245.5 passing yards per game this season. Yes, they played the Miami Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa in one game, but their other matchup was against the Cleveland Browns.
Allen is coming off of a quiet 139-yard game in primetime, so oddsmakers can get away with setting this line low after bettors were burned last week. Even if the Bills have a hard time finishing drives, Allen will easily move the ball up and down the field. The Jaguars' secondary simply isn't very good.
After not even being targeted in Week 1, Brenton Strange pulled in three passes for 65 yards in Week 2. He was targeted six times in the game. Because of that one game, his reception line is now set at 2.5. It seems unreal to expect last week's performance to be consistent throughout the season.
Strange caught a whopping five passes last season. Those catches were spread out over three games. The Jaguars have struggled to get Christian Kirk involved, something that should be a point of emphasis this week. On an offense that features a lot of options for Trevor Lawrence, expect Strange to disappear into the background.
