NFL Week 1 Same Game Parlays & Picks: Cardinals vs. Chargers
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Arizona Cardinals @ Los Angeles Chargers
- Leg #1: Chargers -2.5 (-383)
- Leg #2: Chargers Team Total Over 23.5 Points (+230)
- Leg #3: Quentin Johnston 2+ Receptions (-830)
The Cardinals enter the year expected to win around 2-4 games. Hard to consider them a team that is likely to keep contests close. The Chargers bolstered their offensive prowess by adding Mike McDaniel to their coaching staff. Justin Herbert and company should have their way with Arizona.
The Chargers’ team total is a staggering 29 points. While we originally opted for more than six combined total touchdowns, it may be more logical to take the over on 49+ points. Arizona is currently sitting at -200 to score two or more touchdowns. Oddsmakers are backing that possibility strongly. We went with an alt Chargers team total to play things safe.
The last leg of the parlay is centered around two quick passes to Quentin Johnston. This could very well be one we regret not bumping up to four or more receptions, but no need to create two sweats on the same parlay.
Parlay Odds: +525
NFL Same Game Parlay Strategy
Same game parlays allow bettors to combine multiple markets from one NFL matchup into a single wager. The potential payout increases with every selection, but every leg must win for the parlay to cash. That makes thoughtful construction and disciplined bankroll management especially important. Here are five principles to consider when building an NFL same game parlay.
Build Around a Clear Game Script
Before selecting individual legs, decide how you expect the game to unfold. Will one team play from ahead and lean on its running game? Will an underdog be forced into a pass-heavy comeback attempt? Each selection should support the same overall prediction. Building around a logical game script creates a more cohesive parlay than simply combining several props you like.
Look for Correlated Outcomes
The most natural same game parlays feature outcomes that can succeed together. If you expect a quarterback to exceed his passing-yardage total, pairing that leg with a receiving over for one of his primary targets may make sense. A favorite's moneyline can also align with its lead running back exceeding a rushing prop if you anticipate a positive game script. Avoid combining selections that depend on conflicting versions of the game. BettingPros emphasizes pairing complementary bets and avoiding contradictory legs.
Start With Your Strongest Bet
Identify the wager you have the most confidence in and use it as the foundation of your parlay. Then add only the selections that fit alongside it. Every additional leg creates another way for the ticket to lose, so resist adding marginal bets solely to chase a larger payout. A shorter parlay built around your best analysis will generally be easier to justify than a long ticket filled with unnecessary selections.
