NFL Same Game Parlay for Thursday Night Football: Packers vs. Commanders
Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook | All bets are for one unit unless otherwise stated
- Leg 1: Packers -3.5 (-105)
- Leg 2: Jacory Croskey-Merritt Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+225)
- Leg 3: Deebo Samuel 40+ Receiving Yards (-227)
Leg #1: Green Bay Packers -3.5 (-105)
The hook on this spread makes me more trepidatious, but after what the Green Bay Packers showed in Week 1, I’m willing to take a chance on them winning and covering this number.
Examining this matchup, I cannot take my eyes off the Packers’ pass rush, consisting of Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt and Micah Parsons, going against a Commanders offensive line that includes a rookie right tackle in Josh Conerly Jr., a left guard in Brandon Coleman, who allowed 42 pressures and 10 sacks last season, and other less-than-stellar options.
The saving grace for this offensive line is Laremy Tunsil, but he still allowed a sack last week.
Additionally, I think the Packers’ ground game will get back on track. Packers running back Josh Jacobs had 19 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. The touchdown was great, but the efficiency wasn’t there at 3.5 yards per carry.
The Commanders stymied the New York Giants in Week 1, but that was a barely functioning offense.
In 2024, the Commanders allowed 143.4 rushing yards per game, which was second-most in the NFL.
Between that, the Packers’ pass rush and their abundance of receivers creating issues for the Commanders’ defense, I’ll lean towards the Packers covering the spread.
Leg #2: Jacory Croskey-Merritt Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+225)
All aboard the Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt hype train.
In Week 1, Croskey-Merrit had 10 touches. They were all rush attempts. He went for 82 yards and a touchdown.
While it was a limited sample size, I think this was the beginning of him becoming the primary back with Austin Ekeler working more so as a receiver.
Ekeler was OK, with 26 rushing yards on six carries, but Croskey-Merritt was explosive.
Not only that, but Ekeler has been limited in practice with a shoulder injury.
This game will be much closer than the Packers’ Week 1 affair versus the Lions. Croskey-Merritt will get plenty of work and find the end zone.
The rookie back is one of the more exciting players to watch right now, and the preseason hype is matching up.
Leg #3 Deebo Samuel 40+ Receiving Yards (-227)
In Week 1, Deebo Samuel drew a target share north of 34% in the Commanders’ dominating over the Giants, finishing with 77 yards on seven catches and 10 targets.
Some may argue that Terry McLaurin was getting back into game shape after dealing with a preseason contract dispute, but McLaurin ran more routes and ran them more often than Samuel.
Not only that, but Samuel saw four targets behind the line of scrimmage in Week 1 and caught all of them for 21 yards.
Samuel will get high-percentage targets, and I believe he still has the juice to turn them into yards.
In Week 1, the new Commander was 12th among all pass-catchers in yards after the catch.
This should be a fairly easy benchmark for him to meet.
Parlay Odds: +950
