For the past few years, each Sunday night of the NFL season, I’ve written an early bets piece highlighting some applicable trends I’ve noticed for the upcoming week.
I'm not a trends bettor, but I find that historical situational data helps me identify spots I should consider further when analyzing games.
So here are some trends for Week 2 as well as some early Week 2 bets I’m making based on the current lines in the market and my early personal projections (which are likely to change throughout the week as I make updates).

Note: These aren’t all the trends I’m seeing and all the early bets I’m making. These are just a few of them. For more of my early Week 2 bets, check out the BettingPros App.
All lines and odds are from the BettingPros NFL odds page and as of Sept. 11. All the historical trends information is from Action Network and goes back to 2003. Abbreviations: Against the spread (ATS), return on investment (ROI), moneyline (ML).

The Steelers gutted out a 23-20 overtime road win against the Bengals in Week 1. This is a team of grit and spit, even without EDGE T.J. Watt (pectoral).

- QB Aaron Rodgers: 20-7 ATS (44.8% ROI) vs. Bears
- QB Aaron Rodgers: 38-27-2 ATS (13.2% ROI) in primetime
Packers Notes
The Packers scored only seven points in Week 1, and QB Aaron Rodgers looked horrible with 22-of-34 for 195-0-1 passing. But remember two things.
- The Packers were without LT David Bakhtiari (knee), RT Elgton Jenkins (knee) and No. 1 WR Allen Lazard (ankle). All of them have a chance to return in Week 2.
- The Packers suffered an embarrassing 38-3 road loss to the Saints in Week 1 last year — and then they went 13-3 the rest of the way, captured the No. 1 seed and saw Rodgers win a back-to-back MVP award.
I’m not freaking out about the Packers just yet … although there’s no denying they were rancid against the Vikings.
Bears at Packers: Early Bet
