NFL Week 4 Player Props: Colts vs. Commanders

(Odds Courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Jacory Croskey-Merritt 61+ Rushing Yards (-113)

Normally, we would be pouncing on the under for Jacory Croskey-Merritt, given the regression in yards over the last three weeks. Instead, an injury, as well as a vulnerable run defense, opens the door for the young running back to destroy the 61-yard threshold.

Croskey-Merritt has experienced a dip in yards produced per game this season. Things were looking grim until Rachaad White suffered a shoulder injury against the Seahawks on Sunday.

The Commanders did bring back veteran Austin Ekeler, but Croskey-Merritt will get the bulk of the carries. The Colts are allowing over 141 rushing yards per game, and opposing starting running backs are averaging 64.6 yards per game. As long as the Commanders are down by three scores or more in this game, we expect Croskey-Merritt to rush for at least 61 yards.

Josh Downs 72+ Receiving Yards (-114)

Josh Downs has eclipsed 72 yards in two consecutive weeks and has been a highly targeted option for a limited Indianapolis passing game.

Downs has accumulated just under 150 yards through the last two weeks. The Colts wide receiver saw 20 targets over that span and hauled in 12 passes.

Washington is allowing 280 passing yards per game - the second-highest total in the NFL. If Daniel Jones comes anywhere close to 280 passing yards in this contest, there's a very good chance that Downs will account for at least 72 yards.

Tyler Warren Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+155)

Tyler Warren is also a very solid option for his yardage prop, given Washington’s struggles to limit passing attacks. Having said that, we wanted to add a positive return on at least one selection, and Warren finding the end zone has been a profitable play early on. He has a touchdown in two out of three games this season, and in three of the five previous games with Daniel Jones.

Washington leads the league with 3.7 passing touchdowns allowed per game. The Seahawks scored four passing touchdowns against the Commanders in Week 3. Washington allowed four touchdowns to the tight end position in three games. Daniel Jones threw in Warren's direction on 17 plays over the last two games.

Daniel Jones Under 12 Rushing Yards (-112)

Unfortunately, we close out our suggestions on a negative note. Daniel Jones simply does not have to rush when the opponent is allowing 280 yards per game through the air. When you factor in that Indianapolis has a top-five running back in Jonathan Taylor, it becomes even less likely that Jones will have to use his legs much in this contest.

The scariest hurdle to avoid will be the first-down scramble. If we can evade that scenario, we should be in the clear. Jones has not accumulated more than 10 rushing yards this season, and seems quite comfortable throwing the ball instead. The Indianapolis quarterback has attempted 31+ passes in all three games. Jones is averaging 6.3 rushing yards per game through the first three contests of the season.
