Tuesday’s NHL Best Bets & Picks

San Jose Sharks @ Vancouver Canucks

Oh my, the Vancouver Canucks (17-30-5) are terrible, but they are extra terrible on home ice. The numbers seem unbelievable. They have a .271 win percentage, a -32 goal differential, and allow almost four goals per game. Meanwhile, the Sharks (26-21-3) are exactly .500 on the road and currently hold the second Wild Card spot in the West. They are two teams headed in completely different directions, and bettors can attack this from multiple angles. The OVER seems like a slam dunk, but San Jose has gone UNDER in its last five games, so that’s the one I’d avoid. Otherwise, pick your avenue.

Macklin Celebrini Over 1.5 Points (+115)

After cruising along in the top 3 for points this season, Celebrini has fallen to fourth, tied with Leon Draisaitl at 74 and behind the usual suspects (McDavid, MacKinnon, and Kucherov). However, I don’t much care. Celebrini has been an absolute points machine, crossing this line in both matchups against Vancouver this season. He’s getting near that “If you get plus money, take it” territory, but if you get plus money against a team as bad as the Canucks? Smash that.

Buffalo Sabres @ Toronto Maple Leafs

Over in the Eastern Conference, we have the Sabres (29-17-5) heading to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs (24-19-9), a team that has been in some weird territory of late. Between William Nylander impolitely greeting the TV camera and their coach looking like he wrestled a bear, Toronto doesn’t currently inspire a ton of confidence. While Buffalo has been a strong squad of late, they still struggle a bit on the road, allowing 3.2 goals per game; Toronto allows the fourth-most goals per game at 3.37.  These two played twice in October, going OVER the total in each, so let’s go back to that well.

Pick: OVER 6.5 (-107)
