Buffalo Sabres at Detroit Red Wings

The Buffalo Sabres (4-6-1) hit the road to battle the Detroit Red Wings (4-5-1) with a puck drop at 7 p.m. ET at Little Caesars Arena.

The Sabres had the quick turnaround after suffering a 4-3 loss at KeyBank Center against the New York Islanders as the over (5.5) cashed with Devon Levi in between the pipes. Buffalo did a good job fighting to the end against the Islanders, but it came up just short.

Last season, Buffalo was just 3-9-0 in 12 games when playing on no rest, while posting a dismal -19 goal differential. This season, the Sabres have dropped the first two games when playing on no rest and have a -4 goal differential.

The Red Wings were dropped 6-2 by the Winnipeg Jets in their home game on Wednesday, so Detroit comes in well-rested and raring to go. These teams just met in western New York on October 26, as the Sabres won 5-3, so the Red Wings will be looking for a little bit of revenge.

The Red Wings won three of the four meetings last season, with the over holding a slight 3-2 edge, including their first meeting in Buffalo last week.

In their first meeting, Jason Zucker had a power-play goal, with Tage Thompson lighting the lamp twice, Bowen Byram adding a goal and Jack Quinn depositing one into the empty net. For the Red Wings, Alex DeBrincat, Michael Rasmussen and Lucas Raymond scored, with the latter going for a short-handed marker.

In this game, we’ll back the Red Wings laying a little number and we’ll go high on the total. Let’s also toss in Thompson for an anytime goal scorer prop to bump this SGP up for a potential payout multiplying your wager by more than eight times.

Parlay Odds: +828

Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks

The Vancouver Canucks (4-2-3) hit the road to the SAP Center at San Jose to meet the San Jose Sharks (3-7-2). They’ll drop the puck at 10 p.m. ET in the Bay Area.

All of a sudden the Sharks are red-hot, winning three consecutive games after an 0-7-2 start. The winning streak started with a 5-4 comeback victory in overtime against the Utah Hockey Club on October 28. They followed that up with a 4-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings on no rest. On Halloween, the Sharks were able to scare up a 3-2 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. San Jose has outscored the opposition 12-8 in the three-game win streak.

As far as the total is concerned, the Sharks have cashed the over at a 2-1-1 clip in the past four games. The power play is rolling along at a respectable 21.6% clip, which has the Sharks 13th in the NHL. On the penalty kill, San Jose has a solid 80.8% success rate (15th in the NHL).

These teams met four times in the regular season in 2023-24, with the Canucks going 3-1-0 while outscoring the Sharks 23-10. That includes a 10-1 victory in the Bay Area exactly one year ago today on November 2, 2023, as a heavy favorite (-229) as the over (6.0) obviously cashed.

Vancouver was just shellacked 6-0 on Wednesday as a light favorite (-112) against the New Jersey Devils. They’re 0-1-1 in the past two games after a four-game winning streak. The Canucks are 2-1-0 in three games when playing on three or more days of rest, including wins in the past two. The over has cashed in three of the previous four outings for the Canucks.

We’ll back the Sharks on the puck line, grabbing a little bit of insurance. If you’re more adventurous, consider the Sharks (+215) for the chance to double up on the Moneyline. We’ll play it safe, however. We will roll the dice on a Mikael Granlund anytime goal scorer prop, however, for the chance to more than triple up our wager. While he is scoreless in the past two games, he has five goals in the past six games.

Parlay Odds: +862
