La Familia vs. Davis Steel
Davis Steel snuck past The Mecca in the Non-Alumni Finals, 71-69, to earn a trip to the $2 Million Championship game against La Familia. La Familia defeated JHX Hoops to become the Alumni Champions. Today’s game is for all the marbles.
Davis Steel got contributions from many players in their win. Gabe York finished with a team-best 16 points. Anthony Clemmons scored 13 points and DJ Rodman added 13 points off the bench.
This team has been terrific offensively, scoring almost 80 points per game this season. They’ve also taken 114 threes and have drilled 43% from downtown. That’s one of the main reasons they made the finals.
On the other hand, La Familia got 28 points from Archie Goodwin to advance to this game. He will easily be the best scorer on the court today. But he’s surrounded by plenty of other former Kentucky greats that can easily put the ball in the hoop. La Familia lacks depth, but the starters are absolutely stacked.
That said, La Familia has only shot 33.9% from deep and has scored just 69 points per game.
Davis Steel and La Familia both ranked in the bottom of the league in defense, too. If Davis Steel continues to shoot well from deep, there’s no reason they can’t win the whole thing. Play it safe and take them at +3.5.
