Cleveland Guardians (-136) at Los Angeles Angels (+116) | O/U 9 (-102/-120)
The Guardians (67-66) look to stay hot and sweep the Angels (52-81). First pitch is scheduled for 4:07 p.m. ET.
Cleveland has won six in a row to get back into the Wild Card mix in the American League. A rejuvenated Guardians squad has outscored opponents 37-16 during their win streak. The over cashed on Tuesday, snapping a six-game under run for Cleveland.
For the series finale, the Guardians turn to lefty Joey Cantillo (9-7, 3.73 ERA, 1.45 WHIP). He is 4-4 with a 3.88 ERA and 1.55 WHIP on the road, while posting a 5-3 mark and 3.78 ERA in 11 daytime starts across 52.1 innings.
The Angels will counter with righty Grayson Rodriguez (4-5, 6.41 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). He has struggled in his 14 starts and is just 1-3 with a 5.40 ERA in the past seven outings, issuing 14 walks with a 1.34 WHIP.
The Halos are just 13-27 this season against left-handed starting pitchers and 7-19 in 26 games against Central Division foes. It’s stunning that the Guardians are such a slight favorite here, so let’s get a little aggressive. And, based on Cleveland’s under run lately, we’ll go low on the total, even if Rodriguez has been a little giving for the Angels.
While the over cashed on Tuesday, the under is 12-3-1 in the past 16 games for Los Angeles and 20-4-1 in the past 25 outings since July 31st.
Picks: Guardians Moneyline (-136) & Under 9.0 Runs (-120)
Minnesota Twins (-142) at Athletics (+120) | O/U 10 (-110/-110)
The Twins (64-69) and the Athletics (52-81) meet on Wednesday at Sutter Health Park at 9:05 p.m. ET in the only “late” game on the MLB schedule, as these teams wrap up a three-game series. It’s also the rubber game, too.
The A’s doubled up the Twins 4-2 in Tuesday’s game behind rookie Gage Jump, who allowed two earned runs, three hits and two walks, while also striking out nine batters, across 6.1 innings. It was the third victory in the past four games for the Athletics. The over has cashed in three in a row for the A’s.
The Twins won 9-6 in a wild game on Monday as moderate favorites, with the over easily hitting. Minnesota has dropped four of the past five games, while the over is 3-1 in the past four outings.
Minnesota turns to rookie Connor Prielipp (3-7, 5.57 ERA, 1.40 WHIP), while the A’s counter with J.T. Ginn (8-8, 3.60 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). The latter has been on fire at home this season, despite the rather homey dimensions. He is 6-3 with a 3.58 ERA across 10 starts and two relief appearances, while allowing just five homers across 60.1 innings.
Ginn has had a problem with walks, but he has managed to limit the damage of those free passes. And, in nighttime starts, Ginn is 8-7 with a 3.33 ERA across 113.2 innings in 20 starts and one relief appearance, including his only complete game of the season.
Let’s side with the A’s in this one, but we’ll take the over based on the trends for the Twins lately, as well as the fact the total has gone high in three in a row for the A’s.
Picks: Athletics Moneyline (+120) & Over 10.0 Runs (-110)
