It has been an unusual scheduling week in the NHL, but following a slim two-game slate on Friday, the league returns with a jam-packed 15-game docket tonight. I've got you covered from a sports betting angle, as I've narrowed in on a duo of best bets from the seemingly endless betting board. Here are my top NHL picks and bets for Saturday, March 28th.
Saturday's Best NHL Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Montreal Canadiens (-120) vs. Nashville Predators (+100) | O/U 6.5 (-105/-115)
The Montreal Canadiens carry a three-game winning streak into Music City on Saturday night. The Habs have also won four of the last five contests, including two of their last three on the road. Montreal is 18-8-8 on the road this season.
The Nashville Predators are winners of five of their last six games themselves and are 20-14-3 at home this season. However, Montreal already won 3-2 in OT up in The North back on October 16. That's the tiebreaker here for me.
The Canadiens have six more wins and 13 more points than Nashville. Despite some good recent/hime metrics for Nashville, I expect Montreal to take hime their fourth straight win. There is a reason the Habs are jockeying for the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference home ice and Nashville is hanging on to the final Western Conference wild card spot.
Pick: Canadiens Moneyline (-120)
Florida Panthers (+154) vs. New York Islanders (-185) | O/U 5.5 (-125/+105)
Matthew Schaefer has scored at least one point in 10 of his last 13 games. In fact, he has a point-per-game average going in March, having notched 13 points in those aforementioned 13 games this month. He has also scored seven points in his last six home games and 11 in his last nine home games.
The Islanders’ rookie has already scored four points in two games this season against the Panthers. He had an assist in South Beach back on December 7 in a 4-1 loss. Then, the last time Florida came to town on March 1, Schaefer had arguably the best game of his career with two goals and an assist for his first career three-point game. It was also his fourth career multi-goal game. He now has five multi -goal games this season and nine multi-point games this season in just 73 career games. He has scored 7.4% of his 54 points this season against the Panthers and 55.6% of those 54 points on home ice.
Pick: Matthew Schaefer 1+ Point (-145)
