Since no games are scheduled on Memorial Day, Sunday wraps up the holiday weekend for the WNBA. With eight teams playing in four games, bettors have options between all of the props and the traditional betting lines. But which are the 'Best WNBA Bets' of the day? Sunday’s WNBA Best Bets & Picks
(Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook)
Connecticut Sun (+350) at Atlanta Dream (-480) | O/U 9.5 (-112/-108)
I'm tempted to go with the Sun and take the points after watching Atlanta nearly give the game vs. Dallas away (they were outscored by ten in the final quarter). With the Dream playing in the second game of a back-to-back– advantage, Sun. However, while Atlanta nearly gave the game away, Connecticut did. They were up by seven over Minnesota heading into the final period and led by 15 with 5:20 to play.
But then their already suspect offense disappeared, scoring just two points the rest of the way, and the defense gave away the game.
Atlanta should win; it’s hard to say if they'll cover. But neither offense is reliable. I'd be surprised if either team scored 80 points.
Pick: Under 157.5 (-112)
Chicago Sky (+152) at Los Angeles Sparks (-188) | O/U 4.5 (-110/-110)
- Leg 1: Angel Reese Under 12.5 Points (-128)
- Leg 2: Angel Reese Over 13.5 Rebounds (-102)
I thought about going with Reese to record 12+ rebounds because 13.5+ is a lot, no matter how much of a rebounding beast she is, even though the price is not great (-260). However, while the Sparks are a better team than the Sky, they are not a great team. As good as the Liberty is, Reese still pulled down 12 against them.
She could score OVER 12.5 points, but Reese just isn't a scoring threat. Now, she'll score more than the two points she had against New York, but I'd be surprised if she got into double digits.
A $100 wager will result in a $367 payday, your stake plus $267 in winnings.
Parlay Odds: +267
Washington Mystics (+176) at Phoenix Mercury (-220) | O/U 5 (-112/-108)
Washington reminds me a ton of last year's Indiana Fever squad – pretty darn good on the offensive end, but downright awful on the defensive end.
But with Brittney Sykes likely out once again today, I'm tempering my expectations for them against the Phoenix defense. Assuming Sykes is out, the Washington offense will rely on a pair of rookies, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen. While both have played well against a Phoenix team led by a couple of solid veterans in Satou Sabally and Alyssa Thomas, I'm not expecting much.
The Mystics may make a game of it in the first half, but Sabally and Thomas will take over in the second and run away with it.
Pick: Mercury -5 (-108)
Las Vegas Aces (-245) at Seattle Storm (+194) | O/U 5.5 (-110/-110)
It is hard to know with any certainty just what we have in the Las Vegas Aces this season. They start the year with a big loss to the Liberty, follow it up with a nice win over Connecticut, but then need a massive comeback to avoid losing to the Mystics. The same can be said for Seattle. They got embarrassed in their season opener vs. Phoenix, beat a poor Dallas team by eight, and got revenge against the Mercury.
Both defenses are posting similar stats, but the Aces have a definite edge on the offensive end with A'ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Jewell Loyd, and Jackie Young. Seattle has Skylar Diggins and Nneka Ogwumike.
Their depth will put them over the top.
Skylar Diggins has scored 21 points twice and 24 points so far this season. While the defensive prowess of the Aces has me concerned, the plus-money odds on her points over give this market enough value for me to bite.
Picks: Vegas -5.5 (-110) | Skylar Diggins Over 19.5 Points (+102)
