Toronto Tempo vs. Indiana Fever
Julie Allemand has grabbed the First Basket in each of the last two Tempo games, and she is still offering a 10x return? In the last six games, Toronto’s first baskets have been as follows: Allemand-2, Marina Mabrey-2, Nyara Sabally (out)-1, Kiki Rice (out)-1. Allemand or Mabrey will likely be scoring first again tonight for Toronto, so let’s back one or both of them. The Tempo’s first team basket has also been the game’s first basket each of the last four games, including both of Allemand’s First Baskets.
Conversely, in the last six games, Caitlin Clark (back) has scored first for Indiana twice (in the last two), gotten two more from Aliyah Boston, and one each from Kelsey Mitchel and Lexie Hull. However, Boston’s First Basket six games ago, in a May 30 win in Portland, was the only one of these team First Baskets that was actually the game’s first. Clark’s backup, rookie Raven Johnson (ankle) is also a game-time decision, so it’s best to leave our bets to players who are definitely going to be on the court at the opening tip.
More reason to key on and back the Tempo to draw first blood and set the pace.
