(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Atlanta Dream (+105) at Indiana Fever (-115) | O/U 173.5 (-115/-105)
- Leg 1: Fever -1.5 (-102)
- Leg 2: Under 173.5 Points (-105)
- Leg 3: Angel Reese to Record a Double-Double (-220)
The Dream (9-4) and Fever (9-5) clash tonight, and it’s another installment of Angel Reese versus Caitlin Clark. Or, is it? Clark is the only name on the injury report due to her lingering back ailment. She is considered probable, and it’s almost unfathomable that she doesn’t play against Reese. Clark has been listed as probable in nine straight games and played in all of them.
Atlanta is coming off a 102-77 rout of Toronto, covering as 7.5-point favorites, with the over (170.5) cashing. The Dream have won three of the past four games and are 7-3 straight up (SU) over the past 10 outings. They’re just 2-3 against the spread (ATS) in the past five games, including an 83-71 loss in Indianapolis in the first meeting of the season. The under (173.5) cashed in that one.
In the meeting two weeks ago, the Dream shot just 34% (23-of-67) from the field and 29% (6-of-21) from behind the arc.
Reese had 11 points and 10 rebounds with two blocks, while Jordin Canada had 13 points, seven assists and two steals. She was one of three starters with two made three-pointers. Rhyne Howard was just 2-of-9 from the field, but both makes were from long distance. Naz Hillmon scored 12 points, while adding five rebounds and a steal. Howard had three steals, too.
Kelsey Mitchell led the way for the Fever with 25 points on 11-of-15 shooting, including going 3-of-4 from downtown, while Aliyah Boston went for 19 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and three triples.
Clark was third on the team in scoring with 17 points. She also added eight assists and seven rebounds with a block. Clark was one of four Indiana players to hit at least two three-pointers in the win.
Indiana has won a season-high four in a row, while covering in back-to-back games after a 1-4 ATS skid. Of course, the only cover in that skid was the 12-point win as 1.5-point favorites against Atlanta. The under is 4-2 in the Fever’s past six games.
Let’s back the Fever to get the job done by at least a bucket. In addition, we’ll go low on the total, as it’s a bit inflated.
As for props, simple is always better. Let’s back Reese to record a double-double to get us over the 4X hump. Reese had 15 points and 17 rebounds last time out, and she has secured 17 boards in three of the past four games, while going for double-doubles in six of the past seven outings.
