Women's College Basketball Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (2/24)

The NCAA women's college basketball schedule is a little on the light side today, with just 10 games scheduled and most of them featuring small schools. But that often means bettors could have a great opportunity on hand, and we'll touch on why with today’s women's college basketball picks & predictions.

You see, since we don't have any ranked, big-name teams playing, there is a good chance betting on these games will be light. Consequently, sportsbooks will not have reason to shift odds, giving bettors a chance to take advantage of games that may be mispriced.

Tuesday’s Best Women’s College Basketball Picks & Predictions

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Houston Cougars @ Arizona Wildcats

One thing is certain about both teams: They are nothing like their male counterparts. While the men's teams are a couple of the best in the country, the women's teams for each school are among the worst. Houston's record is just 7-20 (1-15 in the Big 12), and Arizona's isn't much better (11-16, 2-14 in the Big 12).

The Cougars last played on Saturday, losing their sixth straight, 81-56 to Arizona State. Arizona also played last Saturday and lost (its fifth consecutive), to No. 15 Baylor, 74-60.

How on Earth do you pick a winner between these two bad teams?

Short answer? You don't.

When bad teams play, one team will not necessarily play better; bad is still bad. But that works to our advantage. Both teams are awful on defense; 15th (Arizona) and 16th (Houston) in the Big 12.

The Wildcats are the better shooting team by far (48.2% compared to 40.6% for the Cougars). Does that mean you should roll with Arizona to cover (-10.5)? I wouldn't fault you if you did, but I would say the under is the better bet. Poor shooting teams will be poor shooting teams no matter who they face. Arizona shoots better than Houston, but they are still a poor-shooting team.

This will be a low-scoring game; take the under.

Pick: Under 139.5 Points (-110)

Utah Utes @ Colorado Buffaloes

Utah (17-11, 8-8 in the Big 12) comes into this game in more need of a win than Colorado (20-8, 11-5 in the Big 12). The Buffaloes aren't exactly a signature-win kind of team, but for the 17-win Utes, a higher number in the win column will boost their chances of making the 2026 Women’s NCAA Tournament.

But can they pull off an upset?

Losing four of their last five does not give fans reason to have any confidence in them; the loss to Iowa State is the only one not by double digits. Scoring points has been a challenge for Utah this season (68.5 points per game). However, their effective field goal rate is good (50.2%, No. 57).

Colorado's offense is averaging just a point more (69.6 points per game), and the Buffaloes play better defense (sixth in the conference to Utah's ninth). The Buffaloes enter this contest on a five-game winning streak, including victories over No. 14 TCU and No. 20 Texas Tech. That momentum, along with a slightly higher level of skill, will help Colorado cover.

Pick: Colorado -8.5 (-110)
