2022 Tour Championship: Best Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions

Following the second to last week of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season that saw a field of 70 players with no cut, we’re now trimmed down to just 30 players, again with no cut. This time, however, the top 30 players in the world according to the FedEx Cup rankings will start at different positions, as world #1 Scottie Scheffler will start at -10, #2 Patrick Cantlay -8, #3 Will Zalatoris -7, #4 Xander Schauffele -6, #5 Sam Burns -5, and so on down the line all the way down to even par.

With the unique format and the field 25% of the size of normal events, let’s take a look at a few prop bets I’m on for the 2022 PGA Tour Championship.

Three Chances to Win (With Starting Strokes)

Scheffler/Cantlay/Schauffele (-200 on DraftKings Sportsbook)

Starting at a combined -24, these three players will start in the 1, 2, and 3 positions, and though I never like laying juice to win a golf event, I think there is a ton of value in this. The group also features two prior winners: Schauffele won here in 2017, and Cantlay just last season.

Schauffele also boasts the best strokes gained in the field at +3.48, a full +.7 ahead of the next closest competitor Rory McIlroy. It also will include the hottest player in the world this season in Scottie Scheffler, who finished the season with 17 top 25s in 24 events entered, including four outright wins and eight top fives.

Add in last week’s winner Patrick Cantlay, and I think there’s a greater probability than 67% (implied probability of -200) that one of these three killers finds the winning column.

Top-10 Finish (With Starting Strokes)

Sepp Straka (+330 on DraftKings Sportsbook)

Flying under the radar following six straight missed cuts to enter the playoffs, Straka earned his spot in the top 30 following a solo second in the FedEx St. Jude and a T28 last season at the BMW Championship. With the strong finish to the season, Straka has also earned himself a -4 start in this event along with the likes of Cameron Smith, Rory McIlroy, and Tony Finau, starting top 10 with starting stories right out of the gate.

A Georgia alum, Straka has the built-in advantage of playing a ton of golf on Bermuda grass, which has already translated this season into four top 10 finishes on the surface. While it will be nearly impossible for him to catch Scheffler at the top, starting six strokes ahead of him, I do think Straka can hold his own this week and remain in the top 10 when the Tour Championship is all said and done.
