2022 Tour Championship Betting Guide: Odds, Picks & Predictions (2022)

The final week of what has been a terrific 2021-22 PGA Tour season is finally upon us, as East Lake Golf Club will play host to the 2022 Tour Championship for the eighth straight season. Trimming down from the 70 players we saw in last week’s field, only the top 3o players in the FedEx Cup points race remain.

Starting with the #1 player in the world Scottie Scheffler at -10, Patrick Cantlay (#2) will start at -8, Will Zalatoris -7, Xander Schauffele -6, Sam Burns -5, and then groups of players all the way down to even par.

While we had little to no data to go off of last week at the BMW Championship, given its newness to the PGA Tour rotation, this week’s course, the East Lake Golf Club, offers plenty. With the winner slated to earn a record $18 million, let’s take a closer look at the field, course, and who has the remaining value ahead of this weekend’s PGA Tour Championship.

Course Preview: East Lake Golf Course

The host of this event since 2004, the Donald Ross-designed East Lake Golf Club was the home course for legend Bobby Jones and is now a staple on the Tour. Tee shots are critical for success here as the course boasts one of the higher missed greens in regulation %s, as approach shots can be tricky for those not in the middle of the fairway.

Like many courses in the South, Bermuda greens are the putting surface of choice, and with larger than average greens, putting success will be critical to do well.

Tony Finau – Without Starting Strokes (+1600 on DraftKings Sportsbook

Having been a part of the Tour Championship here at East Lake every year since 2017 (two top 10s), Finau comes into the week playing some of the best golf of his career. Starting with a T13 at the Travelers Championship at the end of June, Finau has rattled off six straight top 30s, including three top fives and two outright wins.

Following a strong showing to start the playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Finau started off last week with an uncharacteristic 77, still managing to claw back into the top 30 over the next three rounds to finish T28. In fact, it was his first round above 69 in four events, going all the way back to his third round at the Open Championship.

Coming into the week, a top 15 player on Tour in SG: Off-the-Tee, Tee-to-Green, and SG: Total, I like Finau to go low this week and find himself near the top come Sunday in Atlanta.
