2022 Tour Championship: Top 4 Prop Bets Odds, Picks & Predictions

30 golfers are set to compete in this weekend’s Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. They’ll play for a purse of $75 million with the winner taking home a cool $18 million and the FedEx Cup trophy.

Whether it’s outright winners, head-to-head matchups or props, there are many ways to bet on this weekend’s tournament. Below I’ve listed my top four prop bets for the 2022 Tour Championship.

Two Chance to Win

Personally, I think there are only a handful of golfers that have a realistic shot at winning in Atlanta this weekend. Scottie Scheffler is one of them. The 26-year-old Texan is having a monster year on the Tour with three wins and an additional five top-five finishes. He’s primed to make a run at the $18,000,000 this weekend. Scheffler has previously finished T22 (2021) and fifth (2020) at East Lake.

Xander Schauffele has been heating up down the stretch run of the season. The California native won the Travelers Championship in late June and followed that up with wins at the JP McManus Pro-Am and the Genesis Scottish Open just a week and a half later. Schauffele is also coming off of a T3 finish in last weekend’s BMW Championship at Wilmington Country Club.

It’s not a grandiose payout at +130, but locking in two of the hottest golfers who are each starting with at least a couple of strokes over the field (Scheffler -10, Schauffele -6) makes me feel pretty comfortable. I’ll back this duo of Americans to win the Tour Championship this weekend.

Bet: Scheffler or Schauffele to Win (+130 via DraftKings

Nationality Prop #1

As I mentioned, there are some pretty interesting ways that you can bet on the event in Georgia this weekend. For the next three props, I’m locking in which golfer I believe will finish atop their fellow countrymen (or geographic region).

Starting with the Americans, I’m going to take a shot with Xander Schauffele at +400. He has the third-shortest odds, trailing just Scheffler (+150) and Patrick Cantlay (+240). I just touched on his recent form above, so I won’t dive back into that. However, I will expand on the success that he’s had at East Lake. The 28-year-old won the Tour Championship in 2017 at -12 and finished as the runner-up in both 2019 and 2020. Schauffele feels at home on this course and I expect him to be right amongst the leaders coming into Sunday.

Bet: Xander Schauffele (+400 via DraftKings)

Nationality Prop #2

Five Europeans are set to participate in the Tour Championship this weekend: Rory McIlroy (+130), Jon Rahm (+180), Matthew Fitzpatrick (+400), Viktor Hovland (+800) and Sepp Straka (+1200).

I’m going to back McIlroy to have the best final score out of the Europeans. For starters, Rory seems to be transitioning into “the face of golf” as Tiger Woods’ productivity on the course continues to diminish. This tournament is an opportunity for McIlroy to put a stamp on an excellent 2021-2022 campaign and truly emerge as golf’s number one.

The 33-year-old has found plenty of success over the years at East Lake, having won the event in 2016 and again in 2019. He’ll start this weekend at four under, tied with Straka and holding at least a one-stroke lead over the other Europeans.

Bet: Rory McIlroy (+130 via DraftKings)

Nationality Prop #3

Narrowing in on “Continental Europe,” three golfers will represent the region. Jon Rahm is the favorite at -220 while Hovland (+250) and Straka (+500) are right behind him.

Simply put, Rahm boasts a far superior set of skills than Hovland and Straka. Additionally, he’s coming off of two impressive performances at the preceding playoff events, finishing T5 at the St. Jude Championship and T8 last weekend at the BMW. Rahm hasn’t won the Tour Championship, but he finished one stroke off of the lead last year and actually had the lowest gross score at 266. The Spaniard will start at 3-under, holding a one-stroke advantage over Hovland and chasing Straka by a stroke.

Bet: Jon Rahm (-220 via DraftKings)
