The Men’s Basketball Tournament is headed to the quarterfinal. On Tuesday, August 6, there will be four quarterfinal matchups, including the United States against Brazil.
That game is probably the least intriguing game of the entire quarterfinal slate. Germany takes on Greece, Serbia will face Australia, and France will battle Canada in win-or-go-home matchups.
After reviewing all four games, I’ve decided on my favorite two bets for Tuesday’s quarterfinal games. Follow along below.

Canada vs. France
Canada is undefeated heading into the quarterfinal. They just knocked off Spain with an 88-85 point victory. This was the first game in which Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led in points.
Ultimately, Canada struggled on the glass. They shot 52.5% from the field but lost the rebounding battle by 11 to Spain. That’s what kept Spain in the game. After all, Spain shot nearly 45% from the field and hit only 27.8% from downtown.
Canada has one of the deepest teams in the tournament. However, the depth at center is weak between Dwight Powell, Khem Birch, and Kelly Olynyk. It would’ve been nice to have a guy like Zach Edey. But Andrew Nembhard has been the go-to guy off the bench, and RJ Barrett, Gilgeous-Alexander, and Dillon Brooks have been stellar offensively for the team.
Still, not a single player added more than four rebounds for Canada in that win against Spain. That’s telling.
On the other hand, France went 2-1 in the group stage. France won its first two games but lost the last one to Germany, 85-71. From the second quarter on, France was entirely out of the game and never came close to getting back in it. Victor Wembanyama led the team with 14 points and 12 rebounds. France will likely win the rebounding battle. But it’s also unlikely France out-shoots Canada, even with Rudy Gobert in the center of action. Germany got many open looks from downtown against France after hitting 46.2% from three in a win against France.
Therefore, France should earn many second chances, while Canada will likely have success from downtown against France. I’m on the Over.
Pick: Over 163.5 (-108)
Brazil vs. United States
Thanks to a 102-84 win over Japan, Brazil snuck into the quarterfinal with just one win. Bruno Caboclo avoided foul trouble and helped Brazil with 33 points and 18 rebounds. But he’s almost the entire team. When he’s not on the floor, Brazil has challenges.
Plus, don’t expect Brazil to shoot 60.7% from three and 52.1% from the field against the United States. Brazil ultimately played a perfect game against Japan to play in the quarterfinal.
While the United States hasn’t played perfect basketball, they earned a 104-83 victory after trailing in the first quarter. If the United States can refrain from trailing early, they’ll beat the breaks off Brazil.
Pick: USA -27 (-110)
