2025 Preakness Stakes Predictions: American Promise

Odds: 15-1

With Sovereignty out of Saturday’s race, it’s no surprise to see Journalism heavily favored to win. The horse was the Kentucky Derby favorite, and ran a good race, but ultimately didn’t have enough left at the end. A huge advantage for Journalism is the length of this race. The 1 1/4 mile Kentucky Derby looked too long for the horse.

But length definitely wasn’t a problem when Journalism rattled off four consecutive wins at distances of 1 1/8 mile or less in the build up to the Run for the Roses. Sandman is the second favorite in this race, but he didn’t look to be in the same class as Journalism at the Kentucky Derby. That should tell you just how much better Journalism is than the rest of the field.
