River Thames may be suffering from Sovereignty disease. He's been around the top too long to be trendy anymore. Well, we saw where there got Sovereignty on Derby Day, and perhaps River Thames and his connections can follow the same script. After all, River Thames did run a close second to the eventual Derby champ at the Fountain of Youth so he definitely has what it takes to win a Triple Crown race. River Thames, like his namesake, is as steady as they come.

River Thames is a stalker and maintains his pace while other horses wear themselves out keeping up with the leader's pace. Then, he doesn't even close, he just maintains and that could be enough to beat this field with the right trip...and a bad trip from Journalism and/or he blinks first in a homestretch showdown. River Thames could be at the top of some high dollar tickets come Saturday night. River Thames will be ridden by jockey Irad Ortiz Jr who, along with trainer Todd Pletcher, are both seeking their first Preakness victories after several closes seconds.
